Select Auto mode in the app for irregular, kidney-shaped, or deep pools. Floor mode uses a fixed grid pattern and may miss corners in non-rectangular pools.

This is a known pattern when the S1’s sensors fail to map a new area, often caused by a smooth tile surface or a very curved pool bottom. Fix: (1) Remove the robot from the pool. (2) Hold the power button for 10 seconds to reset. (3) Check for the latest firmware update in the Aiper app. (4) Re-enter the pool in Auto mode for the first run to re-map.

If the S1 is running in Wall mode but not reaching the full wall height, it is likely not fully charged. The S1 requires a full charge to generate enough suction and drive power for wall climbing. Charge fully (until LED turns solid green) before placing it in the pool. Deep pools (8+ feet) may require multiple cycles to fully cover the walls.

Irregular Pool Shapes and Pebble Finishes
Kidney-shaped pools, pebble aggregate finishes, and pools with steep slopes all create more unpredictable paths. Use Auto mode rather than Floor mode. The S1 does not support custom zone mapping as of firmware v2.x. If coverage remains poor after several runs, collect the serial number and submit a support ticket for a technical review.

If your S1 consistently skips a specific area of the pool: (1) The pool shape may have a dead zone the navigation algorithm cannot reach — common in L-shaped, T-shaped, or pools with a large shallow-to-deep transition. (2) Try repositioning the robot’s drop point — place it closer to the missed area at the start of the cycle. (3) For persistent dead zones, run a second cycle in Floor mode (not Auto) positioned near the missed area. (4) Check for water return jets in the missed area — strong currents can push the S1 off course. Redirect the return jet eyeball slightly downward or away from the missed zone for the duration of cleaning.
