The Scuba S1 won’t power down — the green light stays on and the mode can’t be changed, even after a long press. This is a power-button or controller fault, not a battery problem.
If the Scuba S1 won’t turn off, the power button is likely not registering a long press, or the controller is locked in its current state. Start by holding the power button for a full 10 seconds — a stuck short-press loop can read as ‘won’t turn off’. If the light stays on and modes won’t change, remove it from the water, dry it, fully recharge, then reset the controller. If it still won’t power down, the button or controller needs warranty service.
Why the S1 Won’t Turn Off
A Scuba S1 that won’t power down usually has one of three causes: the power button is physically stuck or not registering a long press, the controller has locked up and ignores the off command, or water has entered the button or housing and is shorting the switch. Because the unit stays lit and runs, the battery is fine — this is a control-side fault, not a power fault.
Reset the Button and Controller
1. Remove the S1 from the water and dry it thoroughly, especially around the power button. 2. Press and hold the power button for a full 10 seconds — don’t tap it, and don’t release early. 3. Fully recharge on the wall charger until the adapter LED is solid green. 4. Hold the power button again for 10 seconds to force a controller reset. 5. Test whether the unit now turns off and whether modes can be changed. If it does, a stuck short-press loop or a transient controller lock was the cause.
Won’t Turn Off vs Won’t Turn On
The opposite symptom — a unit that won’t power on at all — is a different fault covered in our won’t turn on guide. If the mode can’t be changed but the unit does power off, the issue may instead be app control — see our app reconnection guide. This page covers a unit that stays on and unresponsive to the off command.
Still Not Working? Contact Support
If a full 10-second reset and a recharge don’t let the S1 power down, the power button or the controller has failed. Submit a warranty ticket with your serial number and note whether the green light stays on during the long press and whether any mode change works at all. This is not something a software reset can resolve.
