The Scuba S1 won’t power on, or it turns on briefly and shuts off on its own. This is a power and battery symptom, not a cleaning issue.
If the Scuba S1 won’t turn on, the cause is usually a depleted or failing battery, a stuck power button, or a controller lock-up. First, fully charge it on the wall charger until the adapter LED is solid green, then hold the power button for 10 seconds to reset the controller. If it still won’t power on, the battery has likely failed and the unit needs a warranty replacement.
Why the S1 Won’t Power On
A Scuba S1 that won’t power on usually falls into one of three cases: the battery is too depleted to start (most common after long storage), the power button is stuck or not registering, or the controller has locked up and needs a reset. These are all power-side faults — the skimming and drive systems are unlikely to be the cause of a unit that won’t switch on at all.
Charge, Reset and Test
1. Remove the S1 from the water and dry it. 2. Plug in the wall charger and confirm the adapter LED turns red, then leave it until solid green. 3. Hold the power button firmly for 10 seconds until the LED responds (a controller reset). 4. Press the power button normally and watch for the LED and any motor start. 5. If it now turns on and runs, the issue was a depleted battery or a transient controller lock.

When to Escalate
If a full charge and a 10-second reset don’t bring the S1 back, the battery or the power circuit has failed. This helps support identify the failed part.
