Path preference adjusts the SE’s cleaning pattern via the app.
Path preference adjusts the SE’s cleaning pattern via the app. If the setting appears to have no effect or the app screen freezes when tapping it, this is a known firmware bug — update to the latest firmware, then force-quit and reopen the app before retrying.
What Path Preference Does
Path preference lets you choose between cleaning patterns — for example, a grid pattern vs. a random bounce pattern. The default auto pattern works well for most rectangular pools. For pools with obstacles or irregular shapes, trying a different path preference may improve coverage.
App Freezes When Tapping Path Preference
A known bug in earlier SE firmware versions caused the app to freeze or become unresponsive when tapping the path preference icon. Fix: (1) Update the SE firmware via Settings → Firmware Update in the app. (2) After the update, force-quit the app completely. (3) Reopen and try the path preference setting. If still freezing, factory reset the robot (hold power 10 seconds), re-pair, and try again on the fresh firmware.
Setting a Cleaning Schedule
In the Aiper app: select Scuba SE → tap Schedule → set days and start time. The SE must be connected to Wi-Fi and fully charged when the schedule fires. If the schedule shows a “firmware update needed” error: restart robot + app, then re-set the schedule. This is a known false-positive bug.
Schedule Wiped After Firmware Update
Firmware updates reset saved schedules. After any update, check and re-enter your schedule in the app.
