The Seagull Pro flashes a red light — often while tilting up on one end or ‘doing wheelies’ — instead of cleaning normally. This is an error indicator, not normal operation.
A flashing red light on the Seagull Pro is an error signal, not normal operation. It usually means the unit has stalled or detected a fault — commonly a stuck wheel, a low or failing battery, or a motor fault. First remove the unit, clear any debris, recharge it fully, and restart. If the red light returns immediately, the unit needs service.
What the Light Colors Mean
On the Seagull Pro, a steady or breathing green light is normal operation. A flashing red light — sometimes alternating with another color — is an error or fault indicator. It tells you the controller has detected something wrong: a stalled drive, a battery that can’t hold charge, or a motor fault. The light alone doesn’t say which part; it says ‘stop and check’.
Clear, Recharge and Restart
1. Remove the unit from the water and turn it off. 2. Clear any debris from the wheels and the underside, and spin the wheels by hand to check for a jam. 3. Fully recharge it on the wall charger until the light is solid green. 4. Hold the power button for 10 seconds to reset the controller. 5. Restart and watch whether the red light returns. If it now runs normally, a partial jam or a low battery was the trigger.
Red Light With Tilting or ‘Wheelies’
A red light combined with the unit tilting up on one end, or ‘doing wheelies’ instead of driving, usually means one drive side has failed — the working side pushes the unit up. That’s a motor or wheel-drive fault rather than a simple jam. See our stuck or won’t move guide for that pattern, and our battery and charger guide if the light points to a power fault.
When to Escalate
If the red light returns after clearing, recharging and resetting — or if it comes with one-sided tilting — the drive or battery needs service. Submit a warranty ticket with your serial number and a short video of the light pattern and the unit’s behavior. This is not something a software reset can resolve.
