Scuba V3 Not Docking at Shore After Cleaning
After waterline timeout, the V3 descends. On sloped or curved-bottom pools, it may slide away from the wall — this is normal for the V3’s navigation on angled surfaces.
After the waterline docking period expires, the Scuba V3 automatically descends back into the pool. On pools with sloped, curved, or dish-shaped bottoms, the robot may slide away from the wall after landing — this is normal behaviour caused by pool geometry, not a robot fault. Use the included retrieval hook to pull it to the edge. If you have a flat-bottom pool and the robot still drifts far from any wall, check for a pending firmware update in the Aiper app, then escalate to support with your SN, pool photos, and diagnostic logs.
How Waterline-to-Shore Descent Works
After the waterline docking period expires (1 minute for AI/Cycle modes, 10 minutes for standard modes), the Scuba V3 releases its internal water and descends back into the pool. It is designed to land near the pool wall. However, the final resting position depends heavily on pool geometry. This is not a malfunction — the robot has completed its cleaning cycle and the descent is part of the normal shutdown sequence.
Pool Shape Is the #1 Factor
If your pool has a sloped, curved, or dish-shaped bottom (common in vinyl-liner and fibreglass pools), the robot may slide away from the wall after descent. The steeper the slope, the farther it drifts. This is expected behaviour and cannot be corrected via firmware. If you have a flat-bottom concrete pool and the robot still ends up far from the wall, proceed to the firmware check below.
Firmware Check and Retrieval Tips
First, ensure your Scuba V3 is running the latest firmware via the Aiper app’s OTA update function. Newer firmware versions include improved descent-angle control that may reduce drift on moderate slopes. For daily retrieval, use the included retrieval hook to pull the robot to the pool edge — this is the recommended method regardless of where it stops. The robot is not designed to always park within arm’s reach of a specific wall.
When to Escalate
If the firmware is current, your pool is flat-bottomed, and the robot still consistently ends up far from any wall, collect: (1) the device SN code, (2) a photo or video of the pool scene showing the robot’s final position, and (3) a description of your pool’s bottom shape and dimensions. Upload diagnostic logs via the Aiper app and contact technical support or the after-sales feedback group.
