Scuba V3 Not Docking at Waterline After Cleaning
The V3 docks at the waterline for 1 minute (AI/cycle modes) or 10 minutes (standard modes), then auto-descends. If it never reaches the waterline, firmware or filter blockage is the likely cause.
The Scuba V3 docks at the waterline for 1 minute (AI Navium / Cycle modes) or 10 minutes (standard modes), then automatically descends. If the robot never reaches the waterline at all, check for a pending firmware update in the Aiper app first — this is the most common fix. A clogged filter basket is the second most likely cause: reduced spray pressure prevents wall traction. Clean the filter, update the firmware, and retest. If the issue persists, collect the SN, photos of the robot’s final position, and upload diagnostic logs via the app before contacting support.
Normal Docking Behaviour by Cleaning Mode
The Scuba V3’s waterline docking behaviour depends on the cleaning mode selected. In Cycle Clean and AI Navium Mode, the robot parks at the waterline for approximately 1 minute after completing its cleaning programme. In other standard modes, it stays at the waterline for up to 10 minutes before automatically descending back into the pool. If the robot is not docking at the waterline at all, there is likely a firmware or hardware issue preventing proper wall traction.
Step 1: Check for Firmware Updates
Open the Aiper app and connect to your Scuba V3. Tap the device settings icon and look for an OTA firmware update notification. If an update is available, install it immediately. Aiper regularly releases firmware improvements that fix waterline-docking logic and motor control parameters. After updating, run a short cleaning cycle to verify the robot now docks correctly at the waterline.
Step 2: Inspect the Filter Basket for Clogging
A clogged filter basket reduces water spray output from the rear jet nozzles. The Scuba V3 relies on sufficient water spray to maintain wall traction — without it, the robot cannot climb to the waterline and will instead stop at the shoreline or remain submerged. Remove the filter basket, rinse thoroughly under running tap water (no soap or detergent), and allow it to air-dry. Reinsert the clean basket and retest. See also our filter cleaning guide for detailed instructions.
When to Escalate to Aiper Support
If the firmware is up to date and the filter is clean but the robot still does not dock at the waterline, collect the following before contacting Aiper support: (1) the device serial number (SN) from the sticker on the robot or in the app, (2) a photo or video of the robot’s final position at the end of a cleaning cycle, showing where it stops relative to the waterline, (3) a description of your pool type and shape (flat-bottom, sloped, curved, etc.). Use the app’s Upload Log function to send diagnostic data, then contact Aiper technical support or the after-sales feedback group.
