The Scuba S1 disconnects from Wi-Fi when it enters the water — this is expected behavior. The robot stores its cleaning program and runs autonomously underwater. After the cycle ends, it returns to the waterline and reconnects to send a completion notification. If it fails to reconnect after retrieval, the most common fix is a full restart of the robot and app.
Why the S1 Goes Offline in the Pool
The 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal cannot penetrate water effectively. Once submerged, the Scuba S1 runs its stored cleaning schedule autonomously without any app connection required. This is the same behavior as the Scuba V3 and is not a defect.
How the Robot Reconnects After Cleaning
When the cleaning cycle ends, the S1 returns to the waterline and waits for up to 10 minutes to re-establish the Wi-Fi connection. During this window it sends a push notification via the app. If you miss the window or the connection fails, lift the robot out of the pool and bring it within Wi-Fi range — it will reconnect automatically within a minute.
App Shows “Device Offline” After Reconnection
If the app still shows the S1 as offline after retrieval: (1) Force-quit the Aiper app and reopen it. (2) Turn the robot off and back on. (3) If the LED is solid green, the robot is connected even if the app lags. A full app reinstall resolves persistent display errors in about 5% of cases.
Replacement Unit Won’t Connect to Existing Account
If Aiper sent you a replacement S1 under warranty, the new unit needs to be added to your account via the Aiper app as a new device. Scan the QR code on the bottom of the replacement unit, or add it manually using its serial number. The replacement unit carries the warranty period of the original.
When to Contact Support
Contact Aiper support if: the S1 never reconnects even after a restart and app reinstall; the LED shows an error color (red or flashing yellow) after retrieval; or the unit goes offline before it even enters the water (indicates a Wi-Fi module issue).
