Scuba S3 Stops Working Mid-Cycle — Diagnosis & Fix
Three possible causes: low battery, motor stall, or the cycle simply completed. Check the LED indicator and Periodic Cleaning settings first.
When the Scuba S3 stops mid-cycle, check these three causes in order: (1) Low battery — if the robot ran its full expected duration, this is normal behaviour; recharge and resume. (2) Motor stall — check for a red flashing LED; if present, retrieve the robot and inspect the pump impeller and drive wheels for jammed debris (hair, string, stones). (3) Cycle completed — if Periodic Cleaning or a schedule was set in the app, the robot may have simply finished its programmed session. Check the app for the cleaning log.
1. Low Battery — Normal Shutdown
The most common and benign reason: the battery reached its minimum threshold and the robot performed a normal shutdown. The Scuba S3 is designed to stop and park when the battery is depleted. If the robot had been running for approximately its expected duration (check your specific mode’s rated runtime), this is expected behaviour. Retrieve the robot, recharge fully and redeploy. 2. Motor Stall — Red LED Warning
If the robot stopped suddenly AND the LED is flashing red, a motor has stalled. The most common causes: (a) the pump impeller is jammed with hair, string, or small debris; (b) a drive wheel is obstructed. Retrieve the robot, turn it off, and inspect the impeller through the filter compartment and each drive wheel for tangled debris. Clear any obstructions carefully (use tweezers, not metal tools). After clearing, power on and test in shallow water before redeploying to the deep end. If the red LED persists after clearing all visible obstructions, the motor itself may be damaged — contact support.
3. Cycle or Schedule Completed
If you use Periodic Cleaning (scheduled automatic cleaning) or set a specific duration in the Aiper app, the robot may have simply finished its programmed session. Open the Aiper app and check the cleaning log or history — it will show whether the cycle completed normally. A ‘Completed’ status confirms the robot stopped because it finished its work, not because of a fault. Adjust the schedule or duration in the app if you need longer cleaning sessions.
When to Contact Support
Contact Aiper after-sales support if: (a) the red LED persists after clearing all visible motor obstructions, (b) the robot stops very early in every cycle despite a full charge, or (c) the robot stops but shows no LED activity at all (possible internal fault). Provide your device serial number (SN), the cleaning mode used, the approximate runtime before stopping, and the LED behaviour (colour, flashing pattern).
