Scuba S3 Won’t Charge — Charger & Battery Diagnosis
Check the charger indicator light first. If it stays off, the charger is faulty. If the charger works but the robot won’t charge, the battery may be in protection mode or over-discharged.
Start with the simplest check: plug in the charger without connecting it to the robot. The charger’s indicator light should turn on. If it stays off, the charger is faulty — contact after-sales for a replacement. If the charger indicator lights up normally but the robot still won’t charge, the battery may be in temperature protection mode (10–40 °C range) or the battery may be over-discharged. Over-discharged batteries require professional service — do not attempt to jump-start or bypass the protection circuit.
Step 1: Test the Charger Independently
Plug the charger into a known working wall outlet without connecting it to the robot. The charger’s LED indicator should illuminate. If it does not, try a different outlet to rule out a power socket issue. If the charger LED remains off across multiple outlets, the charger has failed and needs replacement. Contact Aiper after-sales support to order a genuine replacement charger — third-party chargers may damage the battery.
Step 2: Temperature Protection
If the charger works but the robot’s charging LED does not respond when connected, the battery’s temperature protection may be active. The lithium battery will not accept a charge below 10 °C (50 °F) or above 40 °C (104 °F). This is a battery protection feature — it prevents charging damage in extreme temperatures. Move the robot to a room-temperature environment, allow time for the temperature to stabilise, then reconnect the charger.
Step 3: Over-Discharged Battery
If the robot was stored for an extended period (several months) with a low or empty battery, the battery voltage may have dropped below the minimum threshold that the protection circuit allows. This is called over-discharge. The battery management system locks out charging as a safety precaution. Over-discharged batteries cannot be recovered at home — contact Aiper after-sales support for a battery replacement. To prevent this, avoid storing the robot for extended periods with an empty battery.
