The Surfer S1 won’t charge from the wall charger — the adapter won’t turn red, or it shows charging but the unit won’t power up. This is a wall-charging fault, separate from solar charging.
If the Surfer S1 won’t charge from the wall charger, first confirm the adapter LED turns red when plugged in. If it stays green or off, the adapter or charging cable is the fault — not the battery. If the adapter charges normally but the S1 still won’t hold power, the battery or the charge-port contacts have failed.
Wall Charging vs Solar
The Surfer S1 has two charge paths: the wall charger (which fully recovers the battery) and the solar panel (which only tops up a healthy battery during daytime skimming). A ‘won’t charge’ fault refers to the wall charger. If the unit skims on solar but won’t charge from the wall, the wall-charger path — adapter, cable, or port — is the problem. Check Adapter, Cable and Contacts
1. Remove the S1 from the water and dry it. 2. Plug the wall charger into a known-good outlet and watch the adapter LED. 3. If it stays green or off, the adapter or cable is faulty — a cable fault is the most common cause. 4. Clean the charging-port contacts with a dry cloth — corrosion or debris blocks the charge. 5. Reconnect and confirm the LED turns red (charging), then leave it until green.
When It’s the Battery or Port
If a known-good adapter and clean contacts still don’t charge the unit, the charge-port circuit or the battery has failed. A battery that was stored drained for a long time can fall below its safe voltage and refuse to recharge. When to Escalate
If the wall-charger path is confirmed good but the S1 won’t hold a charge, the battery needs a warranty replacement. Submit a ticket with your serial number and note whether the adapter LED turns red when charging — that tells support whether to replace the charger or the robot.
