Use this visual guide to understand how your pool's Saturation Index score impacts water balance and pool longevity.
Water is undersaturated. It acts like a liquid sponge trying to dissolve minerals to balance itself. This leads to permanent etching of pool plaster, dissolving grout, and rapid corrosion of metal equipment heaters or ladders.
Water is perfectly saturated and stable. It will neither dissolve surfaces nor deposit scale. Keeping your pool in this sweet spot maximizes the lifespan of your plumbing, surface materials, and equipment.
Water is oversaturated with calcium minerals. It will actively reject calcium out of solution, leading to rough white scale deposits along the waterline, cloudy water conditions, and calcification/clogging of your pool filter element.
