The three X1 models share the same core platform. Key upgrades: X1 Pro adds wall + waterline cleaning and HydroComm compatibility; X1 Pro Max adds adaptive multi-sensor navigation (ultrasonic + dToF + infrared + geomagnetic) for the most complete pool coverage.
Feature Comparison at a Glance
Scuba X1: Floor cleaning, app scheduling, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Scuba X1 Pro: All of the above + wall & waterline cleaning + HydroComm pairing support. Scuba X1 Pro Max: All X1 Pro features + adaptive 4-sensor navigation + Auto mode for irregular pools.
Does the X1 Climb Walls?
The base Scuba X1 cleans floors only. Wall cleaning is available on the X1 Pro and X1 Pro Max. All X1 models can cross pool steps (escape mode activates automatically) but do not clean the step surfaces themselves. If you need full wall + waterline coverage, the X1 Pro or X1 Pro Max is required.
HydroComm — X1 Pro & Pro Max Only
HydroComm is an optional accessory that maintains a Wi-Fi-like connection to the robot even when it is submerged, allowing live monitoring and control during cleaning. Only the X1 Pro and X1 Pro Max support HydroComm pairing. The X1 base model does not. HydroComm probes are sold separately and require ticket ordering — contact Aiper with your X1 serial number.
Shallow Water Operation
All X1 models require full submersion to operate correctly. The robot will not run properly in shallow water where the body is not fully submerged. If your pool has a very shallow end (less than 12 inches), the robot may not reach that area — this is normal and not a defect.
