The most common causes are: filter basket clogged (reduces suction/traction) or wrong cleaning mode selected. Ensure Wall mode or Auto mode is selected; Floor mode skips the walls entirely.
Check the Filter Basket First
The Seagull Pro’s wall-climbing relies on suction adhesion. A clogged filter basket directly reduces the suction force that keeps the robot on the wall. Remove the basket, rinse under a hose, and check for tears in the mesh. A torn basket significantly reduces wall cleaning effectiveness. Order a replacement via aiper.com/us/process-a-warranty.
Mode Selection: Wall vs. Auto
Floor mode: cleans the pool floor only, does not attempt walls. Wall mode: begins at the floor, transitions to wall surfaces. Auto mode: recommended — robot decides the optimal pattern for floor + walls. If you selected Floor mode and the walls are not clean, simply re-run in Wall or Auto mode.
Robot Climbs Partway Then Slides Down
Causes: (1) low battery — wall climbing is power-intensive; charge fully before use. (2) Slippery wall surface (pebble aggregate, rough plaster) — the suction rollers may not generate enough grip. Try a different cleaning speed setting if available in the app. (3) Water level too low — the robot needs correct pool water level for initial wall entry. Check that the waterline is at least at mid-skimmer height.
Pool Type Compatibility
The Seagull Pro is designed for in-ground pools with smooth or moderately textured walls. For above-ground pools with steep curved walls (Intex-style): the robot may not climb effectively. The Seagull Pro is not recommended for above-ground pools with walls angled more than 80° from horizontal. Check your pool wall angle against the Seagull Pro specification sheet.
