The Scuba X1 requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
The Scuba X1 requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. A 5 GHz connection will never work. The robot has a 5-minute window after powering on to complete the Wi-Fi setup — if missed, power cycle and try again. “Incorrect password” almost always means you are on 5 GHz.
Why 2.4 GHz Is Required
The X1’s Wi-Fi module only supports the 2.4 GHz band. 5 GHz Wi-Fi will appear as a connection failure or “incorrect password” error even when the password is correct. Check your router settings and ensure the 2.4 GHz SSID is enabled. If your router broadcasts both bands on one SSID (band steering), try splitting them into separate SSIDs and connect to the 2.4 GHz one.
The 5-Minute Connection Window
After powering on the robot, you have approximately 5 minutes to complete the Wi-Fi setup in the app. If the Wi-Fi indicator light turns off before setup completes, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds (or restart the robot) to reactivate the Wi-Fi setup mode, then try again.
Scan QR Code Instead of Typing Password
Open the Aiper app, select your X1 model, and choose the QR code option instead of manual SSID entry. Scan the QR code on the bottom of the robot. This bypasses manual password entry and often resolves persistent connection errors.
Previously-Owned Unit Won’t Connect
If the X1 was previously owned, the prior account must unbind it first. Hold the power button for 10 seconds to reset all Wi-Fi credentials. Then add the unit to your Aiper account from scratch. If the unit remains bound to another account after the reset, contact Aiper support with the serial number to request a remote unbind.
